Spurs Manager Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Fans'

Fulham Start Strong to Beat Spurs and Increase Tension on Frank

Spurs supporters who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed later "they cannot be true Spurs fans" by manager Frank.

Spurs conceded two scores in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their tenth Premier League at home defeat of the year.

But the main talking point was the visitors' next score when the keeper lost the ball well beyond his box.

He came out to handle a long ball and took the ball near the sideline.

But, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italian turned and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by King.

King laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds later when the ball went to the keeper again, some Spurs supporters booed him.

Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and again at full-time.

A particular of those booing sessions truly irritated Frank.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters apparently jeered the incident and booed after, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Dane stated regarding the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters that do that. Fair enough booing after the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are backing one another, we are with each other going forward."

Kenny Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second-half showing.

Former top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart remarked that the second score was "totally preventable".

"I certainly understand the fans' disappointment," Hart added. "I am aware the part Vicario is playing. He is a excellent squad member, he's a real leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily involved in what turned out to be the decisive goal."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario Following the Game

Italian national team the keeper is in his 3rd campaign with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old stated following the match that he had to take the feedback.

"The second score was a mistake of my own, I accept accountability for that," he commented.

"The intent was to kick the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a bad manner. It was an even bigger mountain to climb."

He said being booed "comes with the game".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "The team cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. The fans have the right to do what they think.

"It's on us to stay increasingly composed, to focus on ourselves. We are lacking in composure and calmness to reverse outcomes. Today is a bad defeat and it is tough to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Line'

Despite Vicario's error, it was not an easy goal for Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the next most distant Premier League goal of the season – following Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly too occurred on the same day.

Wilson stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an empty net to aim for.

10 seconds elapsed between Vicario coming out of his area and the midfielder striking – which was 5 seconds after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the area for a long time," he remarked.

"I was surprised none of the defenders went back to the goal line. When not one of them defended the goal, my interest sparked a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell as well, which gave me a bit of additional time. Then it was all about trying to achieve the right contact and get it towards goal. I had a good feeling, the moment it left my boot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Work Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - Frank

Although Vicario's mistake led coverage, this was an all-round bad day for Spurs to continue their home woes.

This was their 10th at home loss of the year in the league, a joint team statistic along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

They still have home fixtures against Frank's former club the Bees and title holders the Reds to come prior to the close of the season.

Just a single of those wins have come after Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"If you are behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," stated the boss.

"When you're in a poor run, all aspects appears to go against you too – the opening was a redirected shot, the next is a error from Vic.

"This result puts us in a place where we have suffered another game. Every game has a single narrative, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The later period was much better and with luck something we can utilize to learn."

Spurs have lost 4 consecutive home London derbies for the first time in the top division.

And they are averaging nine point five shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their poorest averages on record in a single campaign (since at least 2003-04).

Ex- Fulham midfield player Murphy commented that the manager has to ride the storm.

"He's got take the stick," the pundit said. "He has taken a prestigious role at a huge football club with massive expectation. There is pressure and duty that comes with that.

"The performances at home have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
